Skill for Jobs (Qiyas) Onboarding Launches, Marking First-Ever Orientation for Digital Window Providers

In a milestone moment for Ethiopia’s employment innovation landscape, the first onboarding session for Digital Window Providers under the EASE Project – Skills for Jobs (Qiyas) Initiative has officially opened in Addis Ababa, offering partners a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insight into the project’s vision, systems, and expected results.

The three-day program, running from February 18–20, 2026, brings together key partners, technical experts, and implementing institutions under the leadership of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute(EDI). Designed as both an orientation and capacity-building platform, the session equips participating providers with the knowledge and practical tools required to effectively implement the Qiyas digital platform and expand employment opportunities for citizens.

During the official opening, Boru Shana, Deputy CEO of EDI, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond conventional training. He described it as a results-driven national effort in which partners are expected to deliver measurable outcomes and tangible employment results. He also highlighted that the project represents a significant national investment supported through financing from the World Bank, underscoring the importance of accountability, quality implementation, and impact.

The onboarding agenda features technical presentations, discussions, and hands-on sessions covering implementation procedures, outreach and selection strategies, training methodologies, monitoring and verification systems, safeguarding frameworks, and access to finance. On the service delivery side, expert representatives from Addis Ababa University, Selam Children’s Village, IBT College Canada, Mohas Consult, and DAB-DRT Consulting PLC are participating in the session.

Participants noted that the onboarding serves as an important first step in aligning partners around shared goals, clarifying implementation expectations, and strengthening collaboration mechanisms. Organizers emphasized that Digital Window Providers play a critical role as the bridge between technology platforms, training opportunities, and job seekers.

The session will conclude with a closing dialogue summarizing key lessons, commitments, and action points for nationwide rollout. Stakeholders expressed confidence that this inaugural onboarding will lay a strong foundation for coordinated delivery, stronger partnerships, and accelerated progress toward sustainable job creation and inclusive economic growth.
