Council Approves Startup Bill, Legislation Advances to Parliament for Final Approval

A monumental step has been taken for Ethiopia's emerging innovation ecosystem! On June 5, 2025, the Council of Ministers officially approved the country's first-ever Startup Proclamation. This long-awaited bill is now poised to be tabled before the House of People's Representatives, marking a crucial step towards becoming law. The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), an initiative under the Ministry of Labour and Skills, proudly played an active role with different stakeholders in supporting and developing this new startup policy.
