The Ministry of Labor and Skills, in partnership with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute, is currently convening a national consultative workshop on the Draft National Entrepreneurship Policy and Strategy with key stakeholders.
The workshop provides a platform to enrich the draft through diverse perspectives from government, private sector, academia, development partners, and representatives of youth and women entrepreneurs. Discussions are focusing on the need for an inclusive framework that promotes entrepreneurship in all its forms covering corporate, public, social, and everyday entrepreneurship, with startups also recognized as an essential driver of Ethiopia’s innovation and growth agenda.
The panelists are underscoring that the national entrepreneurship policy is crucial to transforming Ethiopia’s development dreams into reality by advancing entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking across society and systems.
The policy is expected to enhance public value creation, enhance competitiveness in economic, social, cultural, and technological spheres, and drive institutional transformation. It also emphasizes the importance of building a strong support system for entrepreneurship development through business development services, inclusive participation, access to finance, infrastructure, and market linkages. Corporate and public entrepreneurship are being highlighted as key levers for modernizing institutions and boosting productivity, while social and everyday entrepreneurship are recognized for solving societal challenges and building resilient livelihoods.
The Ministry and the Institute have emphasized their commitment to ensuring the final policy provides clear implementation strategies that create a dynamic and competitive nation powered by entrepreneurship.
